MUSIC ACTIVATES BRAIN FUNCTIONS

By Ruth Ferraz

Music is not just sound. It is a direct stimulus to the brain, because the compass and rhythmic activated the left hemisphere which is the mathematics side and the melody works the right one which is responsable for the emotions and visualizations. Then, it helps to connect both sides, because they need to work together to follow the music. No wonders, that in the Old Testament in the Bible had a tribe, the Levites, which duty was to dedicate their lives to worship: playing instruments and singing, also they were taking care of the maintenence of the temple. For they it was giving the title, 10% of the harvest to provide food for them.

When you listen to a song like a perfect classic one above — Passacaglia from Handel, it's not just emotion, it is motion. Your brain activates at the same time: – pleasure areas – memory  – and even motor areas.

That's why you not only feel… - you want to get up - want to sing - want to move. It's not a coincidence, maybe even dance. It's neurobiology. A study published in Nature Reviews Neuroscience showed that music has the ability to directly modulate brain regions associated with mood, motivation, and action.

And there’s more:

The brain learns through association.

If you use a specific song during high-energy moments, over time, just hearing the first few seconds will make your body enter that state.

That’s why environments like the one in the video work so well.

Collective energy (connection) + music + emotion = even more intense brain activation, because this I love to sing in a Choir, with all singer and the musicians.

It’s not just about listening to music.

It’s about using music with intention.

Try this:

Choose a song and turn it into your 'action anchor.'

Save this post to remember:

You don’t always have to wait for motivation to come; sometimes, you just need to press play.
